There’s a lot going on in an unsuspecting building that houses the workshop of Ruckus Composites found in Inner SE Portland where Stark Street turns to Water Avenue. The dudes of Ruckus are serious masters of their craft. Their material is carbon and the majority of their creations are repaired carbon bicycles, but they do not limit themselves to the two wheeled machines we all know and love. Ruckus recently sent the first hotdog into space and they are always dreaming up new ways of using their skills and equipment to the fullest potential.
I am pretty glad that they happen to specialize in carbon repair and a lot of fancy expensive bikes are made out of this stuff. They and the quiet crafters who repair thousands of bikes each year for customers, bike shops, and frame manufacturers. Every once in a while a frame gets left behind, abandoned and added to the dead pile. The fine fellows of Ruckus have been trying to think up ways to give these bikes a new purpose, turn them into something useful. Shawn Small, owner of Ruckus, and his right-hand man, Graham, caught wind of the PBLRB project. Being the gracious and tuned-in members of the cycling community that they are, they decided to support the PBLRB project and women’s cycling in the best way the possibly could.
Ruckus has donated two repaired carbon race frames with custom PBLRB paint schemes to the project. These frames are being raffled starting TODAY and ending June 17th. As soon as the raffle ends, we will announce the winners and how much money the raffle raised. Raffle tickets are 1 for $25 or 3 for $60 and all the money goes to fund the PBLRB team. Who doesn’t need a rad new carbon frameset? You should buy a ticket or 3 or 10 and support the cause, tell your friends, spread the word, spread the bike love! Both bikes come with the Ruckus Composites full warranty. Get after it, you’ve got nothing to lose and only new-bike-day happiness to gain if you’re one of two lucky winners! You might as well buy a pair of socks while you're at it, it's summer shorts weather!
On a slightly different (but related) note, if you have a carbon bike that you broke, you should probably look these guys up. They will save your pretty bike and make you happy all at once!
Thanks for reading, thanks for being awesome.
